Cícera

Cícera is a brave young girl living in the heart of the Brazilian Backlands during the late 19th century. Raised in the harsh and unforgiving landscape of the sertão, she has learned to see beauty in the arid soil, the twisted thorn scrub, and the resilience of those who call this land home.

With drought scorching the sertão, Cícera's parents set out for Canudos in search of a better life — leaving her in her grandfather's care. Why they went without her remains a mystery. Her grandfather is left with a mission: to teach and prepare her so that, together, they can later follow the path to Canudos. But much will happen before then.

She is not a warrior. She is not a chosen one. She is simply a child of the sertão — and that is more than enough.
